Current Training

January 2018 – June 2018

FREE ESOL Entry Level 1,2 and 3 Classes

Translating & Interpreting Service is currently running the ESOL Entry Level 1, 2 and 3 classes which started in January 2018. They will continue running until the end of June 2018 and are currently being attended by around 65 people from our local communities. These courses are free and open to all the community members.

This training is funded by City Bridge Trust and part funded by Awards of All.

Previous Training

2016-2017

FREE ESOL Entry Level 1,2 and 3 Classes

TIS ran the ESOL Entry Level 1, 2 and 3 classes which started in November 2016. They ran until the end of June 2017 and were attended by around 65 people from our local communities.

2015-2016

FREE ESOL Entry Level 1,2 and 3 Classes

TIS has just finished running the ESOL Entry Level 1, 2 and 3 training which started in December 2015 and finished at the end of June 2016 and was attended by around 60 people from our local communities.

2014

TIS completed running the FREE ESOL Level 2 course which was attended by 16 students and upon completion received the NOCN certificates.

2013

A two days Mental Health First Aid Training Course was run by the Barking & Dagenham Council which was attended by a group of 15 interpreters. Certificates were received by all the interpreters who attended the course.

FREE ESOL Entry Level 1 Classes

TIS has currently finished an ESOL Entry Level 1 course which has helped community members to improve and build their confidence of English speaking and listening. A number of 16 people from the local communities have successfully passed the ESOL Entry level 1 and are eagerly awaiting to join in September 13 for Level 2.

Community Interpreting Course

A group of 14 people were qualified at TIS as interpreters with a full NOCN Community Interpreting Course Certificate Level 3 at the end of March 2013.

A free Debt Training Course, was organised by Advise Plus Project, which is managed by the B&D Citizens Advice Bureau and was open to all TIS interpreters and translators. Some of the TIS interpreters have successfully completed the course which they found very usefull when doing their work and also very helpful in their day-to-day life.

A two days Mental Health First Aid Training Course was organised by the Barking & Dagenham Racial Equality Council at a very reduced price of £50.

Foundation Training Course for Advisors was organised again by Advice Plus of Barking & Dagenham and took place from 26th January 2012 for 13 weeks.  This training was FREE to all our our Health Advocates / Interpreters.
